Description
This Native American war chief of the Ottawa Tribe, Pontiac, became a great intertribal leader, and was known for his role in the war named after him, from 1763 to 1766, when Pontiac lead several Native American tribes in a struggle against the British military occupation of the Great Lakes region. He was assassinated April 20, 1769, near Cahokia, IL at the age of 48, but his name lives on: there is a city in Michigan, and an automobile named after him.
